Vocational education section

Vocational Education and Training is a concurrent subject under the Constitution of India. Both the Central and State Governments share the responsibility for effective implementation of Vocational Education System in the country. At National level, Ministry of Education , Government of India, shoulders the entire responsibility of Vocational Education Programme. India has target of creating 500 million skilled workers by 2022. Thus, there is a need for increasing capacity and capability of skill development programs. National Council for Promotion of Urdu Language (NCPUL) is actively engaged in developing the skill based courses to suit the needs and choices of students by offering vocational courses through Urdu medium. On pilot basis, NCPUL signed MoU with the University of Kashmir, Directorate of Lifelong Learning for providing vocational education across the Jammu & Kashmir. Initially, six months certificate Course in Paper Machie was launched in Kashmir in collaboration with the University with the following objectives: b) To generate employment opportunities through Urdu language. c) To promote, develop and propagate Urdu language through Art and Craft. d) To provide quality education/training through Urdu medium to participants for upgrading their Vocational as well as Technical skills to meet the demand of rapid change in the Paper Machie Craft and manufacturing technology. Said scheme of NCPUL is unique in nature and becomes very popular among the masses. Because, being unorganized sector/traditional art, there is no such type of formal or advance training facility in this filed. This scheme is not only appreciated and thumped by different Government department but also advocated to repetition/ further proliferation of the scheme by the different departments such as Department of Handicraft, Govt. of J&K, Directorate of Consumer Affairs, Govt. of J&K and Indian Universities Association for Continuing Education etc. Said scheme is not only promoting the Urdu language but also creating skilled workforce in the country and contributing its efforts for achieving the goal of GoI by promoting the Skill Development Mission.
Now, NCPUL come to an agreement with CDI, Srinagar to run the course from the year 2000.First batch going to start from Oct, 2021
